SEO News You Can Use: Google Introduces Multisearch

Google’s newest search feature Multisearch takes Search to the next level.

The company launched a new feature called “Multisearch”, which allows you to search images and text with Google Lens, Google’s image recognition tool. Multisearch lets users search by image, add text, and refine their search experience.

Search tools are most useful when you’re looking for visual results such as fashion or interior design. You can ask a question about the object and/or refine your search results by brand or color.

Multisearch works this way:

  • Open the Google App on your smartphone
  • Tap the Google Lens camera icon beside the search box
  • Take a picture of any object you see
  • You can also use an image from your gallery or a screenshot of something on your screen
  • To find visual matches, swipe up
  • Click the “+” button to add text to your image search.

Let’s say your favorite shirt isn’t in stock in the color you want. Multisearch can show you the exact shirt in your desired color if you have an image of the shirt.

Another example is if you are looking for curtains that match your room decor. To find curtains that Google considers to complement your room decor, you can upload a photo and include the phrase “curtains” in your search query.

Google teased the launch last September of the new search feature and said it would roll out over the next few months after extensive testing and evaluation. The beta version of the feature will be available for English-based searches in the US starting April 7.

Although it is Google’s method of providing relevant visual search results, Multisearch may offer marketers new ways to diversify their audience’s access and interaction with their content.

The Google March 2022 Product Reviews Update is Complete: Google’s Alan Kent confirmed via Twitter, that the March 2022 product review update was completed and has been rolling out for 19 days. According to data from Semrush and other sources, the update had less impact than the December 2021 update. It started slowly and volatility reached its peak on March 31. The SEO expert Barry Schwartz said that sites affected by the update “probably felt it very strongly.” However, the impact of the update wasn’t as extensive as the previous one. Google suggests that you add images, videos, and audio to product reviews, and provide links to multiple sellers if you are one of those sites. These best practices are in line with the update’s overall goal to enrich product reviews by providing more detailed information and supporting evidence of product usage.

Google to Use AI to Provide Current Local Business Information: Google It announced that it will use artificial intelligence (AI). Machine learning and AI to automatically update brick-and-mortar store hours. This was done in response to COVID-19’s challenges, where restaurants and retailers had to continually change their operating hours. Google created a machine-learning model that alerts Google when operating hours are unlikely to be correct in order to address these concerns. Google will correct the business profile if the hours are incorrect using AI-generated predictions. If a company profile shows that it is closed Mondays, but Google detects that Mondays are its busiest days, Google will automatically update the hours and determine that they are not correct. This technology will enable local businesses to keep track of all their business profiles accurately and better serve customers.
